The idea is scary and I hope no one is going to use this for piracy….

From The Source
It is a tool for reengineering 3rd party, closed, binary Android apps. It can decode resources to nearly original form and rebuild them after making some modifications; it makes possible to debug smali code step by step. Also it makes working with app easier because of project-like files structure and automation of some repetitive tasks like building apk, etc.

It is NOT intended for piracy and other non-legal uses. It could be used for localizing, adding some features or support for custom platforms and other GOOD purposes. Just try to be fair with authors of an app, that you use and probably like.

Features

  • decoding resources to nearly original form (including resources.arsc, XMLs and 9.png files) and rebuilding them
  • smali debugging: SmaliDebugging
  • helping with some repetitive tasks

Requirements

  • JRE 1.6 (Java Runtime Environment)
  • aapt command in a PATH
  • basic knowledge of what is SDK, aapt, PATH, smali and Google search engine may be useful

Installation for noobs

  • Windows:
    1. Download apktool-install-windows-* file
    2. Download apktool-* file
    3. Unpack both to your Windows directory
  • Linux:
    1. Download apktool-install-linux-* file
    2. Download apktool-* file
    3. Unpack both to /usr/local/bin directory (you must have root permissions)
  • Mac OS X:
    1. Download apktool-install-macos-* file
    2. Download apktool-* file
    3. Unpack both to /usr/local/bin directory (you must have root permissions)

So the new Android Market is rolling out and I like the change.
I looks Clean and Clear, simple to use and utilizes the screen real estate much better
What do you think about the new look?

So I was working on my XOOM and just got a notice pop up that there is an update waiting for install….
Hit the restart and install button and 1 minute later I’m on 3.2.

Don’t know if it helped much for an issue I’ve had with Exchange (Exchange 2003 is bad, doesn’t work fine on my OX lion as well) but overall seems to be working perfectly fine.

Motorola Xoom – New Toy

So I just got a new Motorola Xoom (Well used I’m not that rich…) after giving the iPad to my wife.
Overall i’m quite happy (didn’t have too much time to play with it)
So expect some new posts about recommended apps

The Stig Facts

This application thought me a lot about android development and this application will be the base for the coming guides that include Android Development, Layout, Some Design (as mine is not amazing), Database! and more

Now back to the application
The Stig is the Chuck Norris of the auto world
Just something about “The Stig”
The Stig is a character in the British motoring television show Top Gear. The character plays on the anonymity of racing drivers’ full-face helmets, with the running joke that nobody knows who, or indeed what, is inside the character’s racing suit.
